Climbing up to León…wonderful surprise

León; Day 26; 18 km/11.2 miles

Fairly uneventful walk with a couple uphill climbs…until we reached León that is! Walked right into the annual Flag Festival where all the towns in León county bring their Flags and dress in their colors and costumes…each town also decorated a Basque wagon and costumed children ride in it…the parade lasted for hours and the Festival went into the late evening! Festival photos in next blog

A couple pictures from the walk

Arriving in León
Too funny!

The straight and narrow path!

Mansilla de las Mulas; Day 25; 19.3 km/11.2 miles

13 km before we see our first curve! Today we are posting mainly scenery as our first village was 15 km/19.3 km for the day! Making new friends at every stop…Mass at 2000 this evening…Buen Camino

A different sunrise
Always a Pilgrim Welcome
These memorials are all along the Camino
Typical after the harvest along the meseta (plains)
First curve in 13 km!
Typical walk through any village!

God again provides!

El Burgo Ranero; Day 24; 18.7 km/11.2 miles

A rather shorter day of flat, straight stretches of plowed fields…time for prayer and reflecting…

Found out that we reserved an ‘expensive’ truck stop outside of the village… we wandered around a bit and said…if God wants us to stay at the truck stop we will, but if not, He will show us an alternative…we came upon a ‘hotel’ that had a room available…they helped us cancel and called to get Debbie’s backpack brought over…WOW!

Next, we went to eat…started chatting with other Pilgrims…this Brazilian guy had a pinched nerve and was in quite a bit of pain…we had already scoped out the village and told him there was a medical clinic and pharmacy (nothing like home!)…we assisted him there and stayed with him till he was done (cortisone shot with nothing but a cursory exam) and prescriptions…total 4 euros!

Anyhoo, we felt it was the least could do after all our Angel assists!

Another beautiful sunrise!
